Intermediate hypothalamic area
The portion of the hypothalamus located generally internal to the region of the infundibulum; contains the following nuclei: dorsal nucleus (nucleus dorsalis hypothalami), parts of the dorsomedial nucleus (nucleus dorsomedialis), arcuate nucleus (nucleus arcuatus), posterior periventricular nucleus (nucleus periventricularis posterior), retrochiasmatic area (area retrochiasmatica), lateral tuberal nuclei (nuclei tuberales laterales), and ventromedial nucleus (nucleus ventromedialis hypothalami). | |
